World No.1 and Australian Jason Day has won the Players Championship by four shots, to claim his seventh US PGA Tour win in his last 17 starts.

Day finished at 15-under, four shots ahead of second placed American, Kevin Chappell (-11) and five shots ahead of quartet Justin Thomas, Colt Knost, Ken Duke and Matt Kuchar, who all finished on 10-under par.

It is Day's third tournament win of the year, after wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the World Gold Championships Match Play.

The 28-year-old next travels to Columbus, Ohio or the Memorial tournament, before the US Open begins in mid June.
